Joseph Andrew Mongelluzzo, Jr., 71, of Wonder Lake, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2025. A beloved father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed.
Joe, as he was known, was born on February 15, 1954, in Folcroft, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest child of the late Joseph Mongelluzzo, Sr. and Mary Mongelluzzo. He is survived by his brother to Andrew, sister Maryanne, and brother Edward, his children Carolyn, Joseph, and Laura, and his grandchildren Madeline, Josephine, Illithyia, Artemis, Caius, Maria, and Natalie.
Joe dedicated his life to law enforcement, beginning as a patrol officer in Folcroft, Pennsylvania before becoming a detective and eventually moving to Illinois in 1987 to serve as a Special Agent in the Department of the Treasury. Throughout his life he had a passion for music and exposed his friends and family to a wide range of artists and genres through his extensive album collection. Joe also had a passion for riding motorcycles and could often be found on the weekend riding his bikes to Lake Geneva or meticulously cleaning and detailing them in his garage. Joe's sense of humor and contagious laugh will be missed and remember by all who had the joy to hear it.
A memorial service is being planned near his childhood home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Justen's Wonder Lake Funeral Home. For information, please call the Funeral Home at 815-385-2400, or visit www.justenfh.com, where friends and loved ones may share memories of Joseph on his tribute wall.
