Joseph Xavier Moriarty, age 59, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on February 6, 2025, at Elkhart General Hospital.
Joseph was born on April 28, 1965, in Beacon, New York, to Thomas Joseph and Jean Valerie (Hayden) Moriarty, II.
He spent his early years in New York before moving to Cary, North Carolina, where he lived for 10 years. He later moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, until 2021, before relocating to Elkhart, Indiana, in 2021.
Joseph worked in retail for the majority of his life, dedicating his time to customer service. He served as an Assistant Manager at Darryl's and Bob Evans Restaurants and most recently worked at Papa John's and a smoke shop in Elkhart.
Outside of work, Joseph was passionate about music, particularly intricate songs that allowed him to appreciate every part of the composition. He even created his own web-based radio station where he played music, hosted games and interacted with an assortment of "his friends". Joseph also loved sports, especially following the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He was a social individual, able to easily make friends wherever he went. His dog, Clara (The Queen), a cocker spaniel, was a constant source of joy and companionship for him.
Joseph is survived by his siblings, Thomas Moriarty of Cary, NC, and Judi Moriarty of Moncks Corner, SC; uncles Bob and Winna (Hayden) Capowski of New York and James Hayden of Cary, NC; aunts Peggy Shriver of Utah and Joan Myers of Maryland; his ex-wife Ronda Pate; and countless cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Ray Funeral Services, 305 Rock River Ave., Three Rivers, MI 49093, 269-278-1515, has been entrusted with Joseph's care.
