Joseph Musitano Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home - Cuyahoga Falls on Oct. 24, 2025.
In Loving Memory of
Joseph "Joe" Musitano
August 4, 1944 – October 21, 2025
Joseph "Joe" Musitano passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on August 4, 1944, in Youngstown, OH, Joe lived a full and generous life centered around faith, family, and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmel (née Rich) and Dominic Musitano, and his brothers Salvador and Dominic Musitano.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Kathleen (née Torok), with whom he shared a lifetime of laughter, travel, and devotion. Together they built a beautiful family and countless memories. Joe is also survived by his loving children Lisa (Tom) Smith, Joseph Jr. (Michelle), and Mark (Linda); and his treasured grandchildren Delaney, Ryan, Gianna, Sierra, Matthew, Maria, and Benjamin, each of whom brought him endless joy and pride. He also leaves many life-long friends.
Joe spent his working years at the Akron Public Schools as an Occupational Work Adjustment teacher, dedicated to helping young people find direction and confidence in their abilities. His students often wrote to tell him how his kindness and encouragement changed their lives. It was a testament to the impact he made on everyone he met.
Joe loved to travel with Kathy, especially to Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach, two places that held countless memories. They cherished the long drives, the ocean air, and the simple joy of being together away from home. Those trips became treasured chapters in the story of their life, marked by laughter, conversation, and a deep, enduring love.
He taught his grandchildren to enjoy the life they were given. After school, he'd surprise them with donuts and fill car rides with Louis Prima songs, singing along with the carefree charm that made everyone smile. His laugh was loud and contagious, a sound that could brighten any room. He loved good food and had a clever way of convincing his grandchildren to ask for the dishes he was secretly craving. Grandma always knew, of course, but she was happy to oblige. He loved watching movies with his grandchildren, often for hours on end, even when the movies were a little too grown-up for them. He also loved to gamble and took pride in teaching them the rules of blackjack, sharing not just the game, but the joy, energy, and excitement that came with it.
Those who knew Joe will remember his humor, compassion, and the way he could make anyone feel like family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he inspired, and the love he gave so freely.

Dear Kathleen, and Family,

The few friends like Joe (Joey) that you have growing up together in a small town - from an early age and through high school, and beyond - creates a bond that lasts a lifetime. It's like we didn't miss a beat when he told me about your trip to Italy - to the same small town in Southern Italy where both our families were from. The joy he spoke of painted a vivid picture of the all the events thaat I have come to appreciate seeing him - with his infectious smile - and with your family...traveling, being around food, or the joy he had watching movies with his grandchildren. Or listening to music in the car - with donuts no less! What a wonderful life he had!
While I am so sad at this time, please know and understand how happy I am for all of you, and for the memories you shared together.
He will be Forever Young.
