Hummel Funeral Home & Crematories - FairlawnHerbert Lee Bittle II passed away at home at the age of 66 on March 16, 2026, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Herb will be remembered for his big heart and playful spirit. He was a loyal friend and brother, a devoted father, and an especially proud Papa to his nine grandchildren. Herb would do anything for those he loved. He had a way of making life a little more fun for everyone around him. A lifelong lover of animals, there was hardly a time when he didn't have a beloved fur baby by his side.
From a young age, he loved anything with a motor. He was the most at home in his garage, working on cars with music blasting in the background. He loved long road trips and rarely sat still for long. Herb enjoyed collecting cars, especially GM models, and was a proud member of the North Eastern Ohio Camaro Club. He was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and spent his entire career working at Seal Master Corp.
His memory will live on in every shared story, every laugh, and every mile of the road ahead.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Fern ("Pat") Bittle. He is survived by his partner of 21 years, Lori Brawley; his children, Sarah (Matt) Rice, Matthew Bittle, Ede (Paige) Bittle, Joshua Bittle, and Jessica Bittle; his stepchildren, Audrey Larlham and Logan Larlham; his nine grandchildren, Wyatt, Aubrey, AJ, Arlyn, Jackson, Olivia, Opal, Margot, and Ryder; his sisters, Jo Ellen (Michael) Pryce, Patti (David) Richards, Julie (Tedd) Cowling, and DeeDee (John) Bedell; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the friends who supported and stood by him in so many ways as he fought: Paul Fiocca; Morgan and Jessica Iorio; Chuck and Sheree Nuske; Paul Rivard; Tom Krznarich; and Jarod Krznarich. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to FirstLight Home Care of Bath and Buckeye Hospice Care, especially Nurses Angela and Mindy. Your care and compassion meant more than words can express.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Home, 2800 West Market Street, Fairlawn.
A funeral service will take place on Monday, March 30, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Church, Bath Campus (Montrose Location), 565 South Cleveland Massillon Road, Fairlawn. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park.
