Joseph F. Nesbit, Sr., 81, of Warwick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Debra (Horton) Nesbit, with whom he shared 11 cherished years of marriage.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harold and Sarah (Humes) Nesbit. A proud United States Navy Veteran, he served his country with honor before dedicating his career to the Painter's Union. He was a lifetime member of the William Shields Post #43, where he formed lasting friendships and continued to serve his community.
Joseph found great joy in golfing, dancing, singing, cooking, and traveling-especially alongside his wife, Debra. Together, they made memories living in North Carolina before returning to Rhode Island.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Nesbit, Jr. and his wife Danielle, Rhonda Gaffney and her husband Paul, Catherine Nesbit, and Ronaele Nesbit; siblings, Carol DiPanni, Dorothy Rao, Mary Small, Alfred Nesbit, Margaret Casella, and Evelyn Clark; as well as many, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Harold & Patricia Nesbit.
His Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 11-12pm, followed by a Chapel Service, at 12pm, in the Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. Services will conclude with Military Honors in the RI Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to the William Shield Post #43 by mail at: 662 W Shore Rd, Warwick, RI 02889.
