Joseph James O'Shea passed away in an automobile accident on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 57.
Joe was one of seven children born to John and Leah O'Shea. Growing up in a large family meant his home was always filled with commotion, laughter, and love. Summers were often spent at Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, where countless cherished family memories were made. While his brothers gravitated toward sports, Joe's passion was anything with an engine.
He attended Shawsheen Technical High School, where he studied automotive repair, and went on to dedicate more than thirty years to the service department at Sears in Burlington. Joe loved his work and his coworkers, and would have happily remained there had the store not closed. For the past ten years, he continued his career at Jiffy Lube in Billerica and Lowell. Work was more than a job to Joe-it was something he truly enjoyed.
Those who knew Joe will remember his ever-present good mood, easygoing nature, and wonderful sense of humor. He loved to have fun, yet never sought the spotlight, preferring instead to go with the flow and keep the peace. Joe was always there to help, especially for his family. His nieces and nephews knew they could always "Call Uncle Joe" whenever they had car trouble, and he never hesitated to lend a hand. That was simply who he was-kind, dependable, and generous without expecting anything in return.
Outside of work and family, Joe found joy riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a passion that brought him freedom and happiness.
Joe's sudden passing is difficult to comprehend, but his memory will live on through the kindness, thoughtfulness, and joy he brought to everyone who knew and loved him.
Joe was the beloved son of John and Leah (Gurskis) O'Shea. Joe was the loving companion of 21 years of Elizabeth Lang of Lowell. He was the devoted brother and brother-in-law of John O'Shea, Jr. & his wife JoAnn of Methuen, Michael O'Shea & his wife Laura of Jacksonville, FL, Jeremiah O'Shea & his wife Andria of Billerica, Helenmarie Galvin & her husband Kevin of Nashua, NH, Cheryl Johnson & her husband Michael of Billerica, and James O'Shea of Nashua, NH. He was the proud uncle of Brendan O'Shea, Megan O'Shea, Aislynn O'Shea, Michael O'Shea, Sean O'Shea, Zachary O'Shea, Lauren Pevey, Kate O'Shea, Michaela Potter, Christionia Galvin, Katherine Galvin, Leah Galvin, Nicole Johnson, and Brian Johnson. He was the great uncle of Grayson, Owen, & Landen Pevey, Lylah Anthony, Malina Coleman, and Brayden, Elliana, & Maisie Kay O'Shea. He was also survived by many dear friends and coworkers.
