Kevin O'Shea Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Kevin Michael O'Shea, age 61, of Howell, Michigan, passed away on August 29, 2025.
Born March 16, 1964, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Kevin was the beloved son of the late William and Joan O'Shea. He grew up in Elk Grove Village and graduated from Elk Grove Village High School in 1982. Kevin went on to earn his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame and later his MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. For Kevin, Notre Dame was more than a school - it was his life. He consistently upheld its traditions, values, and fight song in all aspects of his life, including his professional endeavors, family relationships, friendships, and even his choice of phone ringtone.
Following in the footsteps of his father and uncle, Kevin proudly carried on the family legacy as the owner of Shamrock Electric Co. in Elk Grove Village. Through his leadership, hard work, and dedication, the company flourished, and Kevin became a respected figure in the electrical industry. His distinguished career has been marked by several notable honors, including the Paddy's Day Lunch Big Shillelagh (2001), the Francis P. Cummins Award (2008), the JP Simmons Man of the Year Award (2010), and the Electric Contractor Association's Gold Medal Award (2024).
Kevin felt a deep sense of pride in his decades-long membership in the Chicago chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), with previous roles on the CFMA's Tax & Legislative Affairs Committee, Financial Survey & Benchmarker Committee, and the A&R Education Subcommittee. He dedicated countless hours to the Electrical Insurance Trustees Benefit Funds board, was a member and supporter of the Electric Golf Club and he was a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP).
Kevin was passionate about his service with the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention's (CIASP), having served on the Board of Trustees and most recently as Treasurer. Sonya Bohmann shared with the CIASP board, "He was a staunch advocate for mental health, suicide prevention, and CIASP, and often shared his life experiences. He championed a culture of care and lived it in his business. Always quick to share a joke, make you laugh, and most importantly, make our mission something that could be talked about anywhere. His passion and dedication will be sorely missed."
Kevin's life was forever changed when he met the love of his life, Lori A. Jensen, at a football party. Their playful bet over a Notre Dame–Purdue game led to a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion. They married on March 4, 1989, and shared 36 wonderful years together.
A devoted husband, father, and Pops, Kevin's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Lori; his children Kyle (Jessica) O'Shea and Kathleen O'Shea; and his cherished grandchildren Brady and Bennett O'Shea, with whom he loved to sing, dance, and make memories. He is also survived by his sister Kelly (Gary) Carney; nieces and nephews Kevin (Carter) Carney, Mitchell (Bridget) Carney, and Molly (David) Alpert; and many extended family members and friends.
Kevin will be remembered for his generous spirit and his philanthropy; his dedication to helping others left an enduring impact on countless lives.
