I was saddened to recently read of Joe´s recent passing. I knew Joe from our days at John Hancock. Although I worked in the Boston Home Office, I did have a good deal of contact with Joe in relation to his agency, and his leadership role with the General Agents Association. He was truly a highly-respected leader, not just within John Hancock, but throughout the entire insurance industry. My deepest condolences to his entire family.

Joe was a great guy. He lived an exemplary life and will be sorely missed.
Joe and I were friends from the day we met.
Joe and I played basketball against each other on CYO grammar and high school teams and it was always very competitive. We stayed good friends all through Saint Joseph´s College.
Pat and I double dated with Joe and Lynne. He was funny and fun to be with. The last time I saw Joe was at our 50th reunion. Joe bought drinks for all, not just the bar (some of it was My money) at the reunion dinner from the money we won as Tournament Champions.
I´m sure God will welcome him with open arms. He will be long remembered by his family and friends.
The Hawk will never die.
God Bless you Joe.

As warm, generous, down to earth guy as you would ever meet. Joe Oakes
was all of that. A proud and loyal St.Joe´s Prepper and St. Joe´s Hawk.
It was my privilege and pleasure to know him.
My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
The Hawk will never die.
Respectfully,
