Joseph Pavano, age 77, resident of New Britain, CT, passed away on June 5, 2025, at Hartford Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of Angelo Pavano, who was Joe's best friend throughout life and his mother, the late Pauline (LaRosa) Pavano.
Joe was a brilliant man and jack of all trades, working most of his career as an engineer in communications. Outside of work, he enjoyed building projects, vacationing at Lake Tahoe and dining out.
He is survived by his brother, Carmen Pavano and wife AnnMarie; sister, Joyce Bukowski and husband Tom; a special companion, Judy Gordon; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe was a kind, compassionate man, often called a Gentle Giant by one of his nieces. This is how we hope all will remember him.
Visitation hours will be June 12, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, CT.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Federation of the Blind, 200 East Wells Street at Jernigan Place, Baltimore, MD 21230.

So sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was my boyfriend in Jr. high and in some of high school. I have such fond memories of Joe, he was smart, and sweet and very funny. We had a lot of good times. Nothing like your first love. Rest in peace my friend. We are all just walking each other home. Tracy Ziel (Barbara Tracy)
