Joseph C. Pullara, 89, of Altamonte Springs, Florida passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024.
Joe was born on November 1, 1934, in Little Falls, NJ. He graduated from Passaic Valley High
School in 1952 and received a degree in Mathematics with a minor in Physics from Rutgers
University in 1956. Soon after graduating from college, he married his high school sweetheart, June
Weite. They moved to Altamonte Springs in 1961, where they raised their family and were very
active in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
Joe was an engineer and worked for Martin Marietta for many years. After retiring, Joe was
instrumental in starting St. Mary Magdalen's Habitat for Humanity Program. He attended daily Mass
and was very involved in St. Mary Magdalen's missions, including the Men's Club, Prison Ministry,
and Ministry of the Sick. He was awarded the Order of St. Mary Magdalen in 2006, an honor
awarded for his contributions to the parish, and was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of
Columbus.
While their children were in high school, he and June were founding members of the Bishop Moore
Band Parents Association, who through weekly bingo games, raised funds to purchase band
uniforms, large instruments, and send the band to festivals and other events.
Joe is survived by daughters Peggy Williams (Bill), Patti Albers (George), and Cindy Shillings
(Curtis), 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, June,
their son, Joe Pullara III (Della), his parents Joseph and Antonietta, his sister Della, and his brothers
Charles and John.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 5,
2024, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers his family requests donations to Habitat for Humanity, c/o St.
Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 861 Maitland Ave., Altamonte Springs, FL 32701.
