Mildred Marie Sutherland was born on January 13, 1936,in Horton Kentucky.
Marie is survived by her brother Bruce Schroader and her four children that she loved dearly. She has six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She has been a devoted grandmother and “great great” to each of them.
Marie moved to Sanford, Florida in 1972 to Sunland Estates. She started attending Jordan Baptist Church in 1986 where she was a faithful member for 40 years. Marie loved her pastor and her church family dearly. She invited everyone she met to church, and as the longest standing member, the church fellowship hall was named after her. She was loved by all who knew her and never had an unkind word to say.
She enjoyed playing words with friends, bingo, and listening to gospel music.
In addition to her long battle with dementia, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2023 and was given six months to live. However, God saw fit to extend her life another two years. She remained faithful in church and prayed for God‘s will, not her own. The last two months of her life her children and grandchildren were honored to give her 24 hour care and spend her last days with her. We are looking forward to the day we will see her again. Until then, we continue to honor her by living our lives in service, obedience and faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ.
