Joseph Newton Purdy

Joseph Newton Purdy passed away peacefully on the 31st of March 2024, at the age of 93. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha Wilson Purdy, and sons Patrick Wilson Purdy and Michael Joseph Purdy. Joe leaves behind two sons, Dan (Sandy) and Tim (Patty), daughter-in-law Amy Purdy, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as his wife Evelyn. He was born in Covington KY, graduated from the University of Cincinnati, served in the Korean War, and then lived in Ohio, Virginia, Maryland before moving to Georgia in 1966, where he lived most of the rest of his life. He was a man of extraordinary spirit, blessed with a multitude of gifts and talents. His life was full of love, laughter, and lots of friends. As a son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, successful businessman, basketball player, baseball coach, college professor, golfer, and veteran, he took them all on with gusto. He leaves a legacy etched in the hearts of countless friends and family.
Friends and loved ones are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday May 25th from 9:00am-11:00 a.m., at The Lawrenceville Presbyterian Church located at 800 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, Georgia 30046.
