Joseph Reda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Orender Family Home on Oct. 16, 2021.
Joseph C. "Joe" Reda, a lifelong New Jersey resident, was a great family member and friend to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, N.J., at the age of 83. Joe grew up in Hudson County with his father, Jack Reda; mother, Helen Reda; his sisters, Judy and Jackie; and his brother, Joel.
He attended Memorial High School, where he met his wife, Constance "Connie" Blum. Joe served in the Marines after high school. He had an incredible work ethic, working long hours at multiple jobs at companies including Abbott's Ice Cream, Dolly Madison Ice Cream, Express Scripts and Caldor. He also was an entrepreneur and owned an ice cream truck in Cliffside Park; Connie's Corner Deli in Englewood; and Nice 'n Sweet Ice Cream Parlor in Blairstown. Joe believed it was important to represent and improve the community as a business leader and member of the Blairstown Rotary.
He had a unique quality of really connecting with people he had just met and striking up a conversation. He loved jokes, especially the corny ones and he loved telling stories of his life, and he had so many wonderful stories to share. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching WNBA games, other sports and political news shows.
Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Miriam Reda; his sisters and brother; Aunt Molly Blum, and many other family and friends. Joe also opened his home and hearts to many animals and pets in his life, and he loved and treated them dearly.
Arrangements are under the care of Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, NJ. In honor of Joe's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and to honor his love of animals, the family asks you make a donation to your local animal shelter or adopt a pet.
