Joseph Edward Redmon Jr.

Joseph "Ed" Redmon, Jr., age 78, passed away peacefully November 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 26, 1947. Ed lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to his family. A proud veteran, he served four years in the United States Marine Corps, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his military service, Ed dedicated 29 years to the Florida Highway Patrol, where his commitment to integrity and public service left a lasting legacy among his colleagues and community. In 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Syble Marie Redmon, and together they celebrated 58 wonderful years of marriage this past May.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Colleen Redmon, and his sister, Wanda Espique.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his loving wife, Syble Marie Redmon; his son, Robert (Denise) Redmon; his daughter, Crystal (Brandon) Rowell; and four beloved grandchildren, Logan and Madisan Redmon, and Brayden (Gabe) Morris and Bowden Rowell; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Ed's greatest joys in life included spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, traveling with Marie, collecting coins, and-much to everyone's amusement-directing Rob around on the farm. His jokes and lively personality, steady presence, and love of storytelling will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A life well lived, a love well shared, and a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are as follows: Ramon Espique, Edmon Espique, Joel Espique, Logan Redmon, Bowden Rowell and Gabriel Morris
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2025 in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Mark Rathel officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps.
