Mr. Joseph (Joe) Rice was a great coach, wise man, and a wonderful friend. He will go down in the annals of Allen University history. In the late 1990's, Joe was the first Basketball coach hired to turn around the program. He did an EXCELLENT job! Thank you my friend!!!! You were truly one of the greats! May the Lord Bless you and your family.

I have known Joe for many years. He was a wonderful man full of smiles and laughter. I can only believe he is in God's memory and the next voice he hears will be Jesus, saying wake up Joe come out just as he did with Lazarus. Rest in peace my friend. Hazel will be waiting. Love Robert Dryburgh.

Joe was my neighbor, someone I looked up to as a big brother/friend. There are so many memories that I will carry with me from the neighborhood to us being men of a certain age, as we visited our own fathers in the VA Hospital in their last days. I will always remember going to baseball and football games with him and my brother, (Danny) and them talking trash and joking about me and Mike being "young Jitterbugs".
To the Rice family, I will miss Joe and always carry him in my heart. He was a good man. Condolences, to you all.
