Joseph Robles, 84 of Gastonia passed away April 18, 2021 at his residence with his faithful dog Snookie on his lap. He was born on January 1, 1937 to the late Jose Robles Sr. and Rebecca Fierro Robles. Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran and was very proud to have served his country. Joseph had 3 children with his first wife Tonya Gamas. He worked many years in Southern California as wallpaper and painting contractor. He was a sprinter in high school and in early college and often spoke of his fond memories with this sport. He also served for many years in The Knights of Columbus. Joseph supported and took pride in coaching youth sports and enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball and football for many years. In later years he was active in the band boosters at his kids' high school in Hacienda Heights, CA. He enjoyed getting together for lunch with his group of close friends from high school and college who were known as "The Nightowls". Joseph was reunited with his high school sweetheart Lita later in life, and they enjoyed 14 years of marriage together in Palm Springs, CA before her passing. After Lita's passing, he moved to Wisconsin and then to his current residence in North Carolina to be near his daughter. Joseph was a very giving person with a big heart, and was always mindful of others in need, sharing what he had. Some of his fondest memories were of camping with his family all throughout CA. He dearly loved his family and friends and his dog Snookie. If there were any last words he wanted to share with his family and friends, it would be that family is valuable and should always come first, and to never take them for granted.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Lita Schwartz Robles, grandmother Josefa Tibor Fiero, mother Rebecca Gonzales and sister Melinda Reaza. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law Michele and Mark Molina of Fort Mill, SC, son Craig Robles of Wildomar, CA, son Glen Robles of Indianapolis, IN, sister Karen Evans of Azusa, CA, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cecelia and Robert Dodd of Alhambra, CA, cousins Ruth and Albert Sierra of Los Angeles, CA, grandchildren Hailey, Justin, Lindsay and Lauren Molina, Dallas and Josh Robles, and Gabriella and Jillian Robles.
Joseph's family would like to thank the wonderful team who worked with him for the past seven months from Gaston Hospice, his nurse Gretchen, social worker Katie and pastor Carl.
