Joseph Rock Obituary
"Beloved husband, father, uncle & friend"
Joseph J. Rock Jr., 86, of Middlebury, entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Arlene C. (Ciarlo) Rock, with whom he shared more than sixty-five years of marriage.
Joe was born in Waterbury on November 3, 1939, a son of the late Joseph J. and Joan (Masejada) Rock Sr.
A true car enthusiast, Joe had a lifelong passion for automobiles and racing. He enjoyed attending car races and proudly racing his own car at Lime Rock Park. He also found great enjoyment on the golf course and was happiest when he was tinkering, building, or working on projects. Known for his ingenuity and hands-on approach, Joe served as the general contractor in building his own home as well as his daughter's home-taking great pride in every detail along the way.
Joe loved to travel, especially trips to Florida, where visits to Disney held a special place in his heart. Above all, he cherished time with his family and shared a special bond with his daughter's beloved dog, Charleigh, who brought him great joy.
Besides his beloved wife Arlene of Middlebury, Joe leaves behind to honor and cherish his memory his daughter, Stefanie Rock of Middlebury, as well as several nieces, nephews, and many loving friends and family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter E. Rock.
Arrangements: A funeral will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 8:45 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial, the Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to St. John of the Cross Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial.
