Joseph A. Ross, Jr., 80, of New Castle passed away the morning of July 19, 2025 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born in New Castle on February 19, 1945, Joe was the son of the late Joseph A. Ross, Sr. and Rose Macri Micco Ross.
Joe had worked as a School Teacher for over thirty-two years, first at St. Vitus School then at Southern Local School District in Ohio, until he retired.
Joe was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed visiting with his friends here in New Castle, who always knew him to be the "fastest" guy in town. A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, all of whom he was very proud of.
Joe is survived by his two sons, Attorney Mark Ross (Michele) and Dr. Michael Ross (Kristie) and his daughter, Dana Kalouris (John), two sisters, Veronica Patterson (Dennis) and Gloria Ross, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his infant son, David Ross, his sister, Madeline Viggiano and his brother, John Ross.
Visitation will be on Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. A procession will leave the funeral home on Friday at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, St. Vitus Church. Father Benjamin Barr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Vitus Cemetery.
