Joseph Fredrick Rowlett

Joseph "Joe" Fredrick Rowlett, 84, Middletown, passed away on January 5, 2026. He was born on January 17, 1941, in Trimble County, Kentucky, to Joseph W. Rowlett and Helen (Singer) Rowlett.

Joe graduated from Madison High School in Madison, IN, in 1959. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for eight years and received an honorable discharge in 1967. During his military service, he was stationed in Iceland, Japan, and Thailand. After returning to the United States, he was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, IL, and at Bunker Hill Air Force Base in Indiana.

After his military service, Joe moved to Muncie, IN, and attended Ball State University, where he earned his realtor's license. He briefly worked in real estate for Buck Realty before beginning a long career with Central Indiana Gas Company in September of 1967. Over 23 years, Joe advanced from District Superintendent to North and Central Division Manager. After retiring from Indiana Gas, he accepted a position as General Manager at Fall Creek Regional Waste District in Pendleton, IN, in 1990, where he worked until retiring in 2015 after 25 years of service.

On November 20, 1965, Joe married the love of his life, Brenda (May) Rowlett, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage. They raised two sons, Jeffery S. Rowlett and Christopher S. Rowlett.

Joe cherished time spent with his family, especially his six grandchildren. He was a devoted dog lover and enjoyed the faithful companionship of dogs of various breeds throughout his life.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda (May) Rowlett; sons, Jeffery S. (Melissa) Rowlett and Christopher S. (Casey) Rowlett; brother, John (Barb) Rowlett; grandchildren, Chelsea (Aaron) Smoot, Chenea (Ryan) McFarlin, Zach Rowlett, Charles Rowlett, Madeline Rowlett, and Tommy Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Hank Smoot, Haxton Smoot, and Houston Smoot; and several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Rowlett; mother, Helen (Singer) Rowlett; and step-mother, Elendor (Smith) Rowlett.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 8, 2026, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, IN.

Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
