Phyllis Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory on Mar. 2, 2026.
Phyllis Jane Moore (Bowman), 88, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, in Anderson, Indiana

She was born on April 26, 1937, in Saluda, Indiana, to Carl and Marie (Crafton) Bowman. Phyllis grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and the simple joys of home-values she carried with her throughout her life.

Phyllis was married to her beloved husband, Nathan Moore, for 15 years until his passing in 1999. Together they shared a life built on love, companionship, and devotion.

She had a true gift for quilting, creating beautiful handmade pieces that will be treasured by her loved ones for generations. She also found great joy in gardening. Her rose bushes were a particular source of pride, blooming beautifully each season under her attentive care. In addition to her flowers, Phyllis maintained a thriving vegetable garden and took great satisfaction in canning her harvest, lovingly preserving food to share with her family.

She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, her dedication to her home and family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down and the love she so generously gave.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Dean) Forrester; son, Kenny Arbuckle; sister, Susan Lyons; great-grandson, Isaac Arbuckle; brother-in-law, Gayle Elles; sister-in-laws, Barbara Bowman and Carol Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by mother, Marie Bowman; father, Carl Bowman; husband, Nathan Moore; sisters, Rosalie Amick, Joanne Vest, Linda Elles, Jeannette Andrew; brothers, Ronald Bowman and Kenneth Bowman; sons, Billy Joe Arbuckle, Carl David Arbuckle, Gregory Arbuckle; grandsons, Jason Arbuckle, Zachariah Arbuckle.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th, 2026 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana 46013.

The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at Loose Funeral Home & Crematory with Brother Joe Royerton officiating.

Her graveside service will take place at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Phyllis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
