Deacon Joseph Ruberte passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Born on March 20, 1945, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Guillermo Jose Ruberte and Luz Virginia Ruberte.
He was a deacon with the Archdiocese of Atlanta having served at El Centro Católico (a Spanish Mission of Holy Spirit Catholic Church) in Sandy Springs and Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Peachtree Corners. At the time of his passing, he was a parishioner with Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Athens. Joseph had many roles in life including EMT, Firefighter, Marine, Software Architect and Deacon. Most importantly, he was husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Vionette Ruberte; son, William Joseph Ruberte; and four grandchildren Olivia, William, Kathryn and Joseph.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens, Ga, with Father Matthew Howard officiating. The family will receive friends the following evening, on Saturday, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville. Interment will be held on Monday, May 12th at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, at 1:00 PM.
