Joseph Peter Sala, 82, passed away on March 16th, 2025, at Cedar Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation in Ossining, NY due to complications related to dementia.
Born October 24th, 1942, Joseph was the son of the late Peter and Mary (Benevento) Rodriguez. He joined the United States Airforce in 1961 and returned home from duty in 1965. On April 18, 1971, he married his beloved wife of 53 years, Berta Sala, who survives him at her home. In 1975, they moved to Beacon NY where they built their life and family. Joe had a long career with the United States Postal Service as a plant maintenance manager until his retirement in 2007.
Joe was an avid outdoorsman throughout his life enjoying hunting, fish and hiking in the mountains whenever he could. He proudly served as a hunting safety instructor and bow hunting instructor for New York State during his retirement years.
Joe is survived by his wife Berta; their children Carol Nieto (spouse Christopher Nieto), Laura Schuder (spouse Jerry Schuder), Robert Sala; and his five beautiful grandchildren, Alyssa Schuder, Julianne Schuder, Jake Schuder, Sebastian Sala and Caeden Sala. His granddaughter Elizabeth Schuder predeceased him in 1994.
