Joseph Samuels

Joseph Samuels, age 92, of Deerfield, IL, formerly of West Rogers Park, Chicago, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Beloved husband of 68 years to late Inez (nee Berger); loving father of Henry (Candy) Samuels, Phillip (Judy) Samuels, and Susan (Irwin) Rotman; cherished Zaddie of Marc (Leah) and Katie Samuels, Avi Samuels, Stuart, Aaron, Melissa Rotman and Jessica (Kim) Quenette; blessed Great-Zaddie of Jett Quenette; devoted son of the late Florence and Irving Samuels; oldest brother of Dr. Arnold (Lois) Samuels and late Shelwin (late Roaslie) Samuels; dear brother-in-law of late Rivian (late Norman) Nardick and late Donna (late Wallace) Cohen; adored uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was a man of deep faith, intellect, and quiet strength. A respected attorney for more than 40 years, he was admired for his sharp mind, integrity, and thoughtful counsel – qualities that extended well beyond his professional life. A devoted and observant Jew, Joseph was a Gabbai at his temple, K.I.N.S., where his commitment to community and tradition was evident to all who knew him. Joseph found his greatest joy in sharing life with his beloved wife, Inez. Whether walking along the beach, traveling down to Florida, or enjoying each other's company. Rarely seen without wearing a cowboy hat or fedora and a thermos of coffee in hand, he embraced life's simple rituals. His deep love for his family gave him much happiness and joy. He took particular pride in leading his family's memorable Passover seders, bringing generations together through tradition, storytelling, and love.

Service Monday, January 26, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. CT at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 Block N. of Lake Cook Rd.) Joseph's service will be livestreamed at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. Shiva to follow.
