Joseph Nava Sandoval

Joseph Nava Sandoval, 69, passed peacefully at home and into his Heavenly Father's arms on October 19, 2025, with his loving wife of 50 years by his side.

He was born on December 26, 1955, in Bakersfield, California, to John and Rose Sandoval. He moved to Riverside, California, at a young age, where he attended school and met his high school sweetheart, Saundra, at Norte Vista High School, where, as he would say, "she stopped time."

He was most passionate about his family and his love for the Lord. His hobbies included riding his motorcycle, shooting pool, and singing. For a time, he was the lead singer for Blue Mountain Tribe, an experience he thoroughly enjoyed. Joseph had a natural gift for connecting with people-if you were lucky enough to meet him, you likely felt like lifelong friends within a short time. He was an ultimate storyteller, always laughing as he retold his favorite memories. He cared deeply for everyone who crossed his path and often reminisced about friends from throughout the years.

He re-dedicated his life to the Lord, and Teen Challenge played a significant role in his journey back to faith and service. He remained connected with the ministry over the years, cherishing the impact it had on his life. For those who knew him well, it was clear that his life was transformed-many would say they knew two very different men, before and after his encounter with our Lord's grace.

Joseph leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his children and grandchildren, and he was even blessed to meet his great-grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra; three children: Antonia (husband Shane; children Gannon, Ayla and Ryleigh), Tina (children Jaeden and Isaiah), and Joseph (wife Victoria; children Bristol and Malachi); his siblings Delphine (Andrew), Stella (Ramon), and John (Maria); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose, and his brother, David.

A celebration of life will be held in March 2026 at his home church, Christian Life Assembly in Tehachapi, California. Details will be shared on social media as plans are finalized.

Joseph's life was defined by faith, laughter, music, and love. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
