Joseph Sarasin Obituary

He was born on March 4, 1930 in Escanaba, the son of Joseph and Eva (LaCrosse) Sarasin. Joe was a lifelong resident of Escanaba and graduated from Escanaba High School. He went on to earn his teaching certificate from Northern Michigan University.
Joe attended the seminary from 1955 to 1963. He then began his teaching career and taught at St. Patrick's School, followed by Holy Name School until his retirement in 1995.
Joe enjoyed photography, fishing, and golfing. He also loved going to the Stonehouse and went every Friday for over 52 years.
He was a member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
Joe is survived by his siblings, Joyce Schaffer, Philip (Marilyn) Sarasin, and James (Judy) Sarasin; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Stanley Sarasin, Pearl Shreve, Anna Mae Pugen, and Shirley Luft.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 1st from 2-4 p.m. at St. Anne's Church in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating.
Burial will take place in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holy Name School. Envelopes will be available at the church.
