Joseph W. Schaber, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on May 24, 1944, in Newport, Kentucky, Joseph lived a life characterized by his outgoing personality and a deep passion for family and the outdoors.
Joseph dedicated 25 years of his life to his career as a food salesman for A. B. Wise and Sons, where his ability to connect with others made him a cherished figure among his colleagues and clients. His jovial nature, sense of humor, and love for conversation left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Joseph was an enthusiastic outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, often recounting fond memories of his trips with his wife to Alaska, which were among the highlights of his adventurous spirit. Joseph’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his devotion to his family, whom he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his wife, Madonna "Mickey" Schaber, and their children: Jeff (Michelle) Schaber, Angela Sessums, and Joseph D. Schaber. Joseph was a proud grandfather to Amber "Nikki" (Brandon), Anne (Ben), Mark, and Courtney, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jaime, McKenzie, and Blake. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Ed) Nevel.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Barbara Schaber, and his siblings Joan Fischer, Audrey Plye, and Mary Ruhe. He was also a grandfather to Zachary, who will be remembered fondly in the hearts of his family.
As the family mourns the loss of a remarkable man, they take comfort in Joseph’s legacy, which is one of love, laughter, and profound family ties. His proudest accomplishment was his family, a testament to the love and care he provided throughout his life.
Visitation will be held on April 8, 2025, at St. Dominic Church (Gathering Space) in Cincinnati, OH, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph New Cemetery at 11:15 AM.
Joseph W. Schaber will be deeply missed, but his joyful spirit and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
