Obituary of Joseph C. Schnitt
Mr. Joseph C. Schnitt, 76, a resident of Ullman IRA in Stittville, NY, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford.
Joseph was born in Utica, on June 28, 1946, the son of Charles and Mary (Speciale) Schnitt. At one time, Joseph was employed with Human Technologies Corporation in Utica, ARC Oneida-Lewis in Utica and the Day Hab program in Barneveld. He also enjoyed doing community service projects, going out to eat, spending time at camp on Sylvan Beach and will most be remembered as a "social butterfly" who loved talking to everyone. He was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica.
Joseph is survived by his two sisters, Mary Smithling of Oriskany and Paula Schnitt of N. Utica: three nephews, Joseph Schnitt, Alan Smithling and Michael Smithling and three nieces, Michelle Miligy, Melissa Fazekas and Elizabeth Smithling, as well as several great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends and caregivers at Ullman IRA. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary and a brother-in-law, Allen Smithling.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Joseph's Funeral Mass of Christian burial on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica. He will be laid to rest with his parents in Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Those wishing to make a donation in Joseph's memory, please consider Ullman IRA, 7400 State Route 291, Stittville, NY 13469.
