Joseph T. Sette, age 70, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at LECOM at Presque Isle. He was born on March 25, 1955 in Erie, a son of the late Joseph J. and Mamie (Cacchione) Sette.
Joe was a faithful supporter of the ministries and activities of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. He made a commitment to live as an Associate of the Sisters of Saint Joseph with Sister Susan Herzing acting as his mentor. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed bird watching in his leisure time. He was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece, Mary Jo Steffes; and his nephew, Thomas "TJ" Scheffner.
Joe is survived by his sister, Giovina Scheffner and her husband, John; his brother, Dominic Sette and his wife, Sandy; his niece, Patty Laskowski and her husband, Rob; and his nephew, Paul Steffes. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, on Saturday, May 17th, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be private in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sisters of Saint Joseph (https://ssjmmf.org/donate-now/). Funeral arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502.
