Joseph Francis Shelcusky

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Francis Shelcusky, age 26, of Novi, Michigan.
On August 21, 1998, Joseph was born to his loving parents, Darren and Tina Shelcusky, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Joseph was raised with his cherished siblings, Krista, Melissa, Paul, and Stephen.
Joseph's exceptional intelligence shone from a young age, leading him to earn a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport. He dedicated himself to a career as a welding and assembly engineer and also enjoyed bartending part-time. He appreciated being able to treat his family and friends to good cocktails.
Joseph is survived by his parents, Darren and Tina Shelcusky; his siblings, Krista (John) Marchello, Melissa (Anthony) Castro, Paul (Christine) Shelcusky, and Sgt. Stephen Shelcusky of the United States Marine Corps; his nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Peter, Tyler, Luke, Catherine, and Isaac. He is also survived by his grandfather, James Wilhelm, and his grandparents, Joseph and Kathleen Shelcusky.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathleen Wilhelm.
Known affectionately as "Joe Fix-it," Joseph had a remarkable ability to fix anything and everything, always ensuring tasks were completed with thoroughness and care. He was a true professional and deeply valued a meticulous hand. Joseph was a talented pianist and had a strong affinity for music, and he enjoyed and appreciated the finer things in life. His kindness and compassion extended to everyone he met; he truly never met a stranger.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Joseph's life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Nie Funeral Home Carpenter Chapel, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, 48108, from 5-8 PM. A memorial mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 Ave Maria Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48105, at 9:30am. Burial will immediately follow the service at St. Thomas Cemetery Catholic Cemetery in Ann Arbor. Friends and family are welcome to gather for lunch at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church after the internment for a funeral lunch, at 12:00 noon.
