Joseph Smith Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Joseph G. Smith, age 67, of Shamong, New Jersey passed away peacefully surrounded by his friends and family on Monday November 3, 2025. He was born to Edna R. (nee Linz) and James S. Smith in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Joe was raised in Delran, NJ where he grew up discovering his passion for hunting and trapping that followed him throughout his entire life. His passion for hunting took him to destinations such as Maine, South Dakota, North Carolina, Alabama and many other places. When he wasn't hunting he worked as a mechanic beginning his career at Mrs. Paul's/Kellogg's and most recently at Astra Foods. He loved what he did and was a master at his profession; engineering, fabricating and innovating. Joe designed and built many machines that are still used today in the food processing industry as well as machines for local farmers and friends.
Joe was a friend to all offering his help wherever he could. His quick wit and humor was like a magnet drawing others close to him. He has been a valued member of the Indian Mills Deer Club since 1990 and a member of Pine Belt Sportsman's Club for many years, serving on the board of directors since 2008. In his final year he renewed his faith in God and became a cherished member of Shawnee Baptist Church.
Joe lived his life to the fullest and will be missed immensely. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Joseph is the beloved husband of Marie Patterson, proud father of Corey Smith, dear brother of James Smith (Tracy), Jack Smith (France), and Jason Smith. He is also survived by his nieces Vanessa, Emily (Jordan) and Sophie, and his nephew Dean (Desirae).
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation of his family in the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055 at 6pm-8pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The family will also receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025 at the Funeral Home from 10am-11am. A funeral service will be held at 11am.
