Joseph David Stabile, 80 of Chesterfield Township died June 11, 2024. Joe was born on November 7, 1943, Salvator and Mary (Pipitone) Stabile in Detroit, MI. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Jean (Waldroup) Stabile. They had two daughters, Tracie and Jeanne, while living in Detroit. They moved to Chesterfield, MI in 1976.
Joe began his professional career in tool and die manufacturing. Later Joe, Dorothy and business partners Tom and Beth Stanton started The Bay Voice in 1983. They grew the enterprise into a group of five award-winning weekly newspapers in northern Macomb and southern St. Clair counties. After selling the papers in 1999, Joe and Dorothy purchased and operated Stahl's Bakery, home of the Belly Button cookie.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Joe was engaged in various community organizations within the Anchor Bay area. He was a longstanding member of the Anchor Bay Rotary, the Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce and the Anchor Bay Community Foundation. Joe and Dorothy were original founding donors to Anchor Bay Community Foundation. Joe enjoyed participating in weekly golfing and bowling leagues.
Joe is survived by daughters Tracie (Don) McIntyre of Wamego, Kansas, and Jeanne (Bill) Bade of New Baltimore; granddaughters Kathryn (Ryan) Borg and Emily (Josh) Stewart; great-granddaughters Savannah, Elliana and Vivian; brother Sal (Carole) Stabile; sister-in-law June Kile of Madisonville, Tennessee; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Rose and Jerry Kelly.
A memorial service to honor Joe's life will take place on June 27th, 2024, at Little Camille's by the Green, Casco, MI. The service will commence at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon, providing an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate his legacy and share memories.
