Joseph was born in Bronx, New York to the late William Toto and Amelia Toto.
He is predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) Toto and Amelia Giandana.
Joseph was a Navy Combat Veteran and served from 1963 to 1968. During his time after the military he was a freelance bartender in Tokyo and a radioman 1st class. For his retirement years he spent it bird watching, fishing, and doing good deeds. He loved being behind the bar making drinks for all celebrations. He was a great writer, kind soul, and proud American veteran.
He is survived by his loving son Cris Toto of Belford, New Jersey, brother Michael Toto of Ridgefield, Connecticut, sister Anita Dahl of Carmel, New York, his 3 grand-dogs Jax, Lou, and Tiger, his grand-cats Carbon and Luna, and his own home cat companion Sammy.
