Joseph Waydo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Joseph Waydo, 76, of Parlin, passed away peacefully at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. Born in New Jersey, he was a lifelong resident of Parlin. Joe proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran.

Before his retirement, Joe worked as a lineman for Verizon for more than 35 years and was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 827. Known for his warm spirit and generous nature, Joe was an excellent cook who lovingly cared for his adored wife of 30 years, Sandy. In his free time, he enjoyed metal detecting and took great pride in discovering unique and interesting treasures.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy (Super) Waydo; his stepson and daughter-in-law, Martin and Christina Hornlien; his best friend, Mike; and many loving friends and neighbors who will miss him dearly.

A private cremation was entrusted to the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Complete funeral details, directions, and letters of condolence to the family may be found by visiting www.spezzifuneralhome.com.

My prayers for your loss. I was lucky enough to learn from Joe at Verizon as well. He referred to us as "kids see". We all learned a great deal from him and he will be missed RIP

Just want to send my condolences to you and your family. I worked with Joe years ago and he left a great impression on me. He took me under his wing and taught me a lot. He was truly one of a kind and he will be missed.
