Joseph Westerfield Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home-Westwood on Jun. 10, 2023.
Westerfield, Joseph A. "Joey" beloved son of Deacon Thomas E. Westerfield and the late Dorothy M. "Dottie" (nee Wernsing) Westerfield. Loving brother of Linda (Keith) Phillips, Carol (Rich) Clark, Thomas J. (Gina) Westerfield and Mary Ellen (Kevin) McCarthy. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Joey passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 age 61 years. Visitation Friday, June 16 from 9am until time of Funeral Mass at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Metzcor 2859 Boudinot Ave. Cincinnati, Ohio 45238.
Joe graduated from Margaret Rost School. He worked at Franks Workshop for a brief time then worked for 22 years at McDonalds on Glenway Avenue where he called himself "The superintendent of the lobby." As his dementia increased he went to work at Goodwill. His final years were spent at Metzcor, a program which enriched the lives of adults with disabilities by providing them with the opportunity to be valued and contributing members of the community. Joe enjoyed many things; being on a bowling league, Special Olympics bocci ball team with his friends and any social events. He mostly enjoyed being around his family.
Joe was provided such wonderful care by his loving care-givers, Margreth, Newlean, and Elsa, and the members of his Queen City Hospice team, Julie, Cassidy, and Mark, and many others who assisted in his care and supported our family.
Joe had unconditional love. Everyone was his friend. He was a gift to all who knew him. He is known for his beautiful heart warming smile and his wonderful hugs. He and his father were inseparable and they enjoyed their life together living for each other.
