Joseph A. White Sr. 1936 – 2025
Joseph A. White Sr. (Indianapolis) beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away March 8th, 2025. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Nancy, with whom he shared a loving marriage since July 1956. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising five children: Patricia (David) Cummings, Joseph (Tanya) White, Sharon (Guy) Argenbright, Jeffrey (Laura) White, and Mike (Nicole) White. Joe was also a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one grandson.
Joe honorably served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve during the time of the Korean War conflict, embodying the values of duty and service that remained with him throughout his life.
Joe was a man gifted with a talent for fixing anything mechanical. His passion for working with his hands started early at Tinkle’s Shell Station at Tenth and Rural in Indianapolis, where he held various positions before moving into management. He later took a role with the Chrysler Corporation at their Indianapolis Transmission Plant. However, his mechanical roots called him back, and he joined his son Joe Jr. as a technician at Dellen Automotive. Even after retiring at 70, Joe continued to lend his expertise to family and close friends, always willing to help with their automotive needs.
Beyond his work, Joe was a man of deep faith and devotion. He loved God, his wife, and his family fiercely. His home was often filled with the sound of the Day-Star channel on a loud TV, a familiar and comforting presence. He also enjoyed dining out at various restaurants, sharing meals and conversations with loved ones.
Over the years, Joe found joy in many hobbies, including cycling and clown ministry, a passion he shared with Nancy. He was a constant source of strength and guidance to his family, a man whose love and wisdom shaped generations.
Joe’s presence will be profoundly missed, but his legacy of love, faith, service, and hard work will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Joseph's visitation will be 12-2pm followed by his funeral service at 2pm Wednesday the 12th of March held at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East Funeral Center. He will be laid to rest with a graveside service at Washington Park East Cemetery.
