Joseph H. Wilberding

Joseph H. Wilberding, age 91, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 4, 1933 in Shepherd, Michigan to Herman and Elizabeth (nee Glandorff) Wilberding.
Joseph began his career with General Motors in Flint and was transferred to the Bank Relations staff at their central office. He was later made chief financial officer of the engineering staff at the GM Tech Center. Along with his career success, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.
Joseph is survived by his wife Joanne of 68 years, sons David (Julie), James (Nan), Bruce (Michelle) and daughter Nancy (Noel) Hargrave-Thomas. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his brother Jerry. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and son Michael (Lori).
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Troy at 11:00 am. Friends may visit beginning at 10:30am.
The family hopes the whole country will continue to celebrate his birthday with fireworks on the Fourth of July. Donations may be made to Ladies of Charity of Oakland County, PO box 602, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48303.
