Joseph F. Wood "Woody/Joey", age 82, of Mantua Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at home with his family. Born in Darby, PA, to the late George H. Wood & Caroline (nee Palmer), he grew up in "The Meadows" section of Philadelphia and attended Bartram High School. In 1964, he married Marie (nee Muglie), and together, they had five children. Joe had a very strong work ethic. One of his favorite sayings was "Whether the job big or small, do it right or not at all!" He was a Heavy Equipment Operator by trade. Joe was a simple man who loved music and had a great singing voice. In his spare time, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and working in his yard. He was an avid Phillies fan and a huge animal lover. Joe was an excellent cook and was known for making the "Best Crabs & Spaghetti". Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife, Marie; children, Denise Fearon and her husband, Rob, Michelle, Christopher, Donna, and Joseph and his wife, Deidre; eleven grandchildren; three great grandsons and a great granddaughter on the way. Joe came from a big family, being one of eight, and is survived by his brother, William "Billy" Wood and his wife, Susan, along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit from 9:30 am to 10:45 am on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Church of the Incarnation, 240 Main Street, Mantua, NJ, where a funeral Mass will be held at 11 am.
