Josephine Adkisson, age 91, of Reed, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
Jo's family was her whole life. She was a retired bookkeeper from the Henderson County Board of Education. Jo enjoyed baking, cooking, large get-togethers, and serving those in need who weren't able to get out. She often volunteered at Spottsville Elementary School where her grandchildren attended. In addition to being a lifelong member of Reed Community Church, Jo attended Chapel Hill Church these last few years.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Josephine Wyatt Heppler, her husband Harry Lindol "Lindy" Adkisson, Jr., and her brothers Harry Heppler, William "Bill" Heppler, and Galen Heppler.
Jo is survived by her son Lindol Adkisson and his wife Michele of Walnut Creek, CA; daughter Julia Varnell and her husband Rick of Subiaco, AR; grandchildren: Tyler Adkisson (Allana), Kelsey Adkisson (Kevin), Jason Varnell, Jeffrey Varnell and Jesse Varnell, Sara Humel, Jonah Humel, Eli Humel and Lucas Humel (Ally); and great-grandchildren Harper Adkisson and Evin Epperson.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jo's Life Celebration from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the funeral home with Randy Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY, 42420.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Chapel Hill Church, 2601 US Hwy 60 E., Henderson, KY, 42420.
