Josephine Elaine Anderson, longtime resident of Glen Burnie passed away peacefully Saturday, October 9th with her loving family by her side. Josie aka "Josie from Gunnings", worked at the former popular Hanover Street and then Hanover Maryland Gunnings restaurant for over 40 years. Josie was a devoted mother and Mommom whose favorite way to spend time was with her family. She loved vacationing in Ocean City, cheering on the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, and cooking for a crowd. Mom to all and always the life of the party, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Born to Harry and Josephine Purdy on August 5,1941, Josie is lovingly remembered by her children, Dawn Crabtree (Donald), Roxanne Shaffer (David), Frank Anderson (Kelly), and Kimberly Stevers (Ronald); grandchildren Kristen Anderson, Lauren Arcoraci (Chris), Frankie Anderson, Megan Perry (Matt) Katelyn Anderson, Elaina and Evan Stevers, Katie Wells and Carrie Huffman; great grandchildren, Gavin Arcoraci and, Larke Perry; siblings Irma Alfinito, Frances Bridickas, Audrey Iner, Anna Cowan, and many other family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, brother Louis Purdy and sister Henrietta (Sis) Harrison. The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A., 1 2nd Ave. SW (at Crain Hwy) on Thursday, October 14th from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
