Josephine June Loretta, 94 of Bridgeport, West Virginia, went peacefully to be with the Lord on October 13, 2025. She was born on June 27, 1931, in Dola, West Virginia, to the late Antonio Rubino Romano and Teresa Angotti Romano.

She married Louis Loretta, on March 31,1951 who preceded her in death on May 12, 1993. Together, they built a life centered around faith, family, and love. She was a life-long member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport, WV.

Josephine is survived by her devoted children: Sambra Jo Flanagan (Tom), Marc Anthony Loretta (Marlene), Gemma Kay Priddy (Joe Hanson), James Phillip Loretta (Joelle). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Tressa Fratto, Andrea Phillips (Jeremy), Marc Loretta (Bella), Francesca Loretta (Danilo), Michael Flanagan, Rachel Presti (Josepf), Giana Loretta, Santino Loretta, and the late Anthony "Tony" Fratto, who preceded her in death on January 10, 2013.

Her legacy continues through her eight great-grandchildren: Manny Fratto, Eva, Joseph, and Jamison Phillips, Rocco and Rio Kelley, Sophia and Luca Loretta.

She was also preceded in death by her 10 siblings: Mary Romella, Rose Iaconis, Katherine Aiello, Barabara Beto, Salvatore, Joseph, John, Albert, Frank, and Patrick Romano.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Josephine dedicated her life to caring for her family. A proud homemaker, she found joy in creating a home that was not only clean and orderly but beautifully decorated for every holiday. Whether it was a pot of sauce simmering on the stove, fresh linens on the bed, or a vase of flowers on the table, every detail reflected her care and pride. She loved music and dancing, often singing along to music as she worked.

Josephine never missed a moment to support her children and grandchildren whether cheering on her sons and grandsons at football games, baseball games and car racing or beaming with pride as her daughters and granddaughters were in the marching band, cheerleading competitions, chorus and musical plays. Her grandchildren will forever cherish her quick wit and the many jokes she loved to tell.

Josephine was a woman of remarkable strength, tough when she needed to be, but a heart as generous as they come. She faced life's challenges with grit, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her presence filled a room, with confidence she was the rock of her family steady, faithful, and full of wisdom yet she never lost her sense of humor.

Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in every meal shared around a kitchen table, every song played while dancing barefoot and every story told with a smile. Her legacy is not just in the love she gave, but in the strength, she inspired in others.

The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at the Shenandoah Center in Charles Town, WV – especially Ms. Kaitlyn Pultz and Daphne Brown.

Family and friends may call at the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm to conclude the visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 10:00 am with Father Walt Jagela as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Shepherd's Corner, 119 Pennsylvania Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
