Josephine Shreves, 89, of Morgantown, WV went to be with her Lord Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at Mon Health Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Stonewood, WV on March 24, 1934 a daughter to the late Dominick Marasco and Catherine Manfrie Marasco.
Surviving are her three sons Charles C. Shreves, Jr. and wife Lori of Atlanta, GA, Stephen P. Shreves of Morgantown, WV, Michael H. Shreves and wife Gayle (Ryan) of Morgantown, WV. Five grandchildren Evy Shreves of San Francisco, CA, Brandon Shreves and wife Kathleen of Charlotte, NC, Kelcy Andersen (Shreves) and husband Alex of Morgantown, WV, Clifton Shreves of Morgantown, WV and Ryan Shreves of Morgantown. WV. Four great-grandchildren Carter, Cole and Ava Andersen all of Morgantown, WV and Mary Josephine Shreves of Charlotte, NC.
Josephine graduated from Roosevelt Wilson High School in 1952. On November 17, 1953 she married her high school sweetheart Charles Clifton Shreves and was blessed with 52 years together until Charles passing in 2005. Together they raised their three sons near West Milford, WV. Josephine loved getting together with family and friends for picnics at the farm, and various parks. She is best remembered as always being the last person to leave, holding onto the side of the car door talking to stretch time as long as she could. She loved her daily phone conversations with family and friends.
Josephine was a member of the Evangelical Congregation Church at Oak Mound, Clarksburg where she happily served the Lord as a pianist, teaching Sunday school, helping prepare meals and anything asked of her for over 50 years. In her later years she attended and was a member of Sabraton Hill Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a part of the services and many church family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by six sisters Minnie Marasco, Virginia Faris and husband Clarence, Angie Liloia and husband Nickolas, Flora Romano and husband Stanley, Daisy Mangone and husband Dominic, JoAnn Griffith and husband David, and two brothers Joseph Marasco, and James Marasco and wife Dorothy.
Family and friends will be received at Sabraton Hill Baptist Church, 1641 Sabraton Ave, Morgantown, WV 26505, Saturday, November 18 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12 PM, with Pastor Stephen Dodrill officiating. Interment will follow at 2 PM at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 457 Zachs Run Rd, Mount Clare, WV 26408.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sabraton Hill Baptist Church, 1641 Sabraton Ave Morgantown, WV 26505
