Josh Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dalton Funeral Home - Germantown on Jan. 3, 2026.
Josh "Brownie" Brown, age 46, of Germantown, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2026. He was born December 21, 1979, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Jim and Becky (Hoisington) Brown. and brother to Aaron Brown.
Josh was never the loudest in the room, but he never needed to be. He never went looking for recognition ~ we all knew his heart. The love he had for others came through in the laughter he shared with those all around him. He had his way of making a hard situation easier by just being present. He made people laugh and feel included. It is not just his presence that will be missed, it is the connection he was able to make. He was able to make adulthood feel less intimidating.
Josh was a graduate of Valley View High School ~ Class of 1998, and a graduate of Pittsburgh Culinary Institute in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He was employed at Bob Evans in Springboro, Ohio.
When he was not working, he enjoyed working on his truck with advice from his brother and help from his friends. He was an avid gamer, finding joy playing online games with friends and family.
He will always be remembered for those little details that made people feel valued. We were supposed to have more time, more birthdays and a chance to make more memories. The family doesn't feel the same without him and never will. It is so unfair that we are now speaking of him in past tense. We will always laugh when we talk about him, because he would never want us to be serious for too long. He will be remembered for the memories, the smiles, and all the laughs he left behind.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Becky Brown, and brother Aaron (Jennifer Gilbert - Evans) Brown and their children Mason & Max Evans; uncles Tom (Beth Ann) Brown, Brad (Theresa) Hoisington, and Curt (Becky) Hoisington and Aunts Jamie (John) Bell and Michele Stahl; nieces Layla (Clay) Morgan, Amy & Lindsay Geldrich; great-nieces and nephew: Winnie & Henry Morgan and Cora Geldrich; and many cousins.
A Memorial Gathering will be held 2 – 5 p.m. Saturday January 17, 2026, at the Dalton Funeral Home, 6900 Weaver Road, Germantown, Ohio. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or the American Diabetes Association. Please share condolences at daltonfh.net
