Josh Mallette
Saltillo—Joshua David “Josh” Mallette passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024, as the result of a drowning accident. He was 37 years old. He was born August 27, 1987, in Washington, North Carolina to David Mallette and Jennifer Hardee Ratliff. After attending Saltillo High School, Josh entered the Army National Guard. A young man with a strong work ethic, he worked for Wal-Mart Distribution Center as a lift driver and also worked in construction for Herndon Building L.L.C. Josh loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, and kayaking. Josh had a knack for hunting down great deals at yard sales and estate sales, taking pride in his finds. His greatest joy however, came from moments spent with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Josh leaves behind four children, Adam, Jalyn, Ansly, and Landon; his father, David Mallette (Cathy) of Saltillo; his mother, Jennifer Ratcliff (Sandy) of Washington, North Carolina; his sister, Alex Williams (Dan) of Saltillo; grandfather, Wayne Mallette; grandmother, Laverne Adams; and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mavis Mallette.
A memorial service celebrating Josh’s life will 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues with Dr. Phil Ellis officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Saturday.
