Joshua Adam Alfieri, known affectionately as Josh to his friends and family, passed away on March 21, 2024, at the age of 36, in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, where he had been proudly serving his country. Born on March 26, 1987, in Bay City, Michigan, Josh was a beacon of joy and laughter, touching the lives of all who knew him.
Josh was a devoted family man, survived by his wife, Amanda (Boeneman) Alfieri, whom he married in 2012, and their three sons, Gabriel, Isaiah, and Zachary Alfieri. His legacy of love and kindness is also carried on by his mother, Dawn (Grochowski) Alfieri, and his brothers, Lyle Danley and Bryan Alfieri. He was preceded in death by his father, Terry Alfieri, his grandparents, Leroy and Edna Alfieri, Floyd and Caroline Grochowski, and his uncle, Ricky Grochowski.
A 2006 graduate of Gladwin High School, Josh's commitment to excellence was evident early on. He excelled in sports, playing basketball and running track, and his creative spirit shone through in his love for playing the guitar and drawing. Though he attended some college, Josh found his true calling when he joined the United States Army shortly after graduation. His dedication to service was unwavering, and in October 2023, he was honored with a promotion to Sergeant First Class (E-7), a testament to his hard work and leadership. Josh's kindness extended beyond his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a word of encouragement, or share a joke to brighten someone's day.
Josh's sense of humor was legendary; he was the master of pranks and always the life of the party. His laughter was infectious, and his presence could light up any room. A loving and funny man, Josh was also deeply creative. He had a talent for woodworking, crafting various items with skill and care. His creations were not just objects but pieces of his heart that he shared with those he loved.
Family was the cornerstone of Josh's life. He cherished every moment spent with his wife and sons, whether it was camping under the stars, sharing stories around a fire, or simply enjoying the comfort of home. His role as a father was one he embraced with all his heart, and his boys were his greatest joy. As we say goodbye to Joshua Adam Alfieri, we celebrate a life lived with passion, humor, and an abundance of love. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will live on in the hearts of many.
A funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Rivertown Funeral Chapel, Kawkawlin, MI with Pastor Charles Campbell presiding followed by burial at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Bay City, MI with Military Honors. I had Josh as a 5th grade student. He was always happy and smiling. Josh was well liked by the other students. I fondly remember his dad and mom both coming into our class to help out. Josh was so proud! I am so sorry for your loss.

He was my drill sergeant at Fort Jackson. I remember him and his WD40 cup. I actually wanted to make my husband a cup like that. He was nice even when he had to yell. You can just tell he was a caring person.
