Joshua Rafael Avila

Joshua Rafael Avila, age 36, of Houston, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 20, 2025. Josh was born on July 6, 1989, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Alvin. From a young age, he had a kind and gentle spirit that only grew stronger through the years. He graduated from Alvin High School in 2007 and was currently employed with Reliance Nissan in Alvin, where his friendly smile and caring nature made everyone feel welcome.

A talented cook, Josh attended culinary school and loved sharing his amazing meals with family and friends. Cooking was one of the many ways he showed love - he poured his heart into everything he made. Josh always cared deeply for others and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. As the oldest of three, he took great pride in looking after his younger brother and sister, making sure they always felt supported and protected.

Though quiet and reserved as a child, Josh grew into an outgoing, warm, and genuine young man who never met a stranger. His sense of humor, compassion, and big heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a special way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved.

Josh was a devoted son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him most.

He is preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Rafael P. Avila Jr.

Josh is survived by his loving parents, Rafael and Ilene Avila; brother, Alexander Avila and fiancée, Cristal Puentes; sister, Miranda Avila; grandparents, Marie and Van Wyatt; and grandmother, Maria (Lupe) Avila along with uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous extended family members and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Scott Funeral Home, followed by a Memorial Service beginning at 7:00 PM.
