Joshua Isaiah Defoe, age 37, passed away August 5, 2024, at 9:30 A.M. in Imperial County, CA. Joshua was tragically involved in a motorcycle accident on I-8 West, just outside of El Centro, while traveling home to Ramona, CA. Despite the valiant efforts of his wife, Aleisha, and others who rushed to help, Joshua did not survive the accident. He was comforted in his final moments by his beloved wife, Aleisha.
Joshua was born September 6, 1986, in Washington. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Aleisha, and their two sons, Ryan and Nathan. He also leaves behind his mother and her husband, his father, his brother, sister, two stepbrothers, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In 2019, Joshua left his career as a welder to pursue his lifelong dream of joining the United States Navy. Overcoming many obstacles and skepticism, he fulfilled his childhood aspiration of serving in the armed forces. Joshua was sworn in as a Boatswain’s Mate and was promoted to BM3 Petty Officer 3rd Class in 2024, with a new seven-year contract recently accepted. Joshua had a diverse range of interests, from heavy metal to opera, and enjoyed playing his guitar and rocking out with his shipmates. He was teaching himself tattooing and exploring spray painting. Known for his intelligence, commitment, and loyalty, Joshua embodied a rare old-world charm. His deep love for Aleisha and their family was evident to all who knew him. Together, they forged a profound and unbreakable bond, supporting each other through life’s trials and joys.
Joshua’s family is deeply grieving this sudden loss and requests prayers for strength during this challenging time. A funeral service will be held at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, TX, September 12, 2024. Viewing will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., followed by the service at 1:00 P.M. Joshua touched many lives with his outgoing and fun-loving nature. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will forever be cherished and never forgotten.
