Joshua Don Mays, 37, of Merkel, formerly of Clyde, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home after a long and hard-fought battle with Crohn's Disease. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Bailey Howard Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Joshua was born October 8, 1987, in Abilene to Anthony Scott (Tony) Mays and Kathy Ann Culwell. He was raised in Clyde and graduated from Clyde High School in 2006 and attended Clyde Church of Christ. He worked for Bandag for a few years, until he became disabled with Crohn's Disease. He met Amber O'Keeffe, and they dated for ten years, finally marrying in Clyde on September 23, 2023. Joshua was an avid Dallas Stars fan, a history buff, loved video games and strawberry and cream Dr. Pepper. He was also an avid storyteller and loved to make everyone laugh with his stories. He especially loved his family and his fur baby, Roxy.
He is survived by his father, Tony Mays and stepmother, Jennifer of Clyde; wife, Amber Mays of Merkel; two daughters, Miley and Analicia (Lil' Bit); two brothers, Colton Mays and wife Lauren of Early and Quaid Mays and wife Shelby of Valparaiso, Indiana; stepbrother, Michael McCrae and wife Jamie of Royse City; stepsister, Bobbie Huston and husband Evan of Fountain Inn, South Carolina and many well loved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Joshua was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy and his father-in-law, Randy Lutz.
