Joshua Murray, age 51, of Madison, SD, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 19, 2025 in Madison. No services are planned at this time.

Josh possessed many talents, including carpentry, auto mechanics, and drawing. He loved loud music (Metallica, Slipknot, and Mac Miller), and he enjoyed fishing and lifting weights in his spare time. He enjoyed his line of work, construction. If he wasn't fishing or lifting weights, you could probably find him at the job site finishing up the last day's work or find him fixing something around the house. Josh dreamed of owning a 1990 Maroon Suburban with hydraulics, loaded with subs, so he could drive around town, with his Metallica blaring and his car lifted in the back, lowered in the front. Josh drew anything and everything, from work plans to actual people in his life. He had a dark sense of humor and could make you laugh in any situation. Josh enjoyed spending time with his family and close friends. To know Josh is to probably not like him, but you get to know him, and he just kind of grows on you. Even though he wasn't probably the easiest person to talk to, and was very blunt, you grew to appreciate the bluntness and learned to like him. He was a 1 in a million type of person; he would give you the shirt off his back and would make sure the ones he loved in his life were taken care of before himself. He was a hard worker, and he proved that until his last breath. Josh probably looked scary, but once you got to know him, you could see right through his facade. He was a big ole softie and very goofy. He loved cliche movies about love (even though he would never admit it out loud), and he adored his daughters and his sons. Josh had the biggest heart and taught the ones around him that patience and forgiveness come easily.
