Our beloved Joshua, age 43, returned home to his heavenly parents peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from a pulmonary embolism.
Joshua was born on February 26, 1980, in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Craig M. Ramsey and Teri L (Midgley) Ramsey. He was the oldest of three children and loved his brother and sister and his parents with all his heart.
Joshua grew up in
Taylorsville, Utah and attended Valley Jr High and Taylorsville High School. Joshua had a brilliant mind and throughout school he received many certificates of achievement and outstanding awards for academics, and he graduated in 1998 with High Honors and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was later honored to be invited to be a member of Mensa. No one could ever beat him in Jeopardy!
In High School Joshua was involved in music and received his letterman's jacket in music. He had a beautiful singing voice and was involved in choirs and singing his entire life. In his senior year of High School Joshua was on the Seminary Council and served in that calling faithfully. Joshua was a devoted boy scout and earned his Eagle Scout before graduating from High School. Joshua was one of the few who took Spanish in High School and actually learned to speak it! He was fluent in Spanish when he graduated.
Joshua served a Spanish speaking mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in
Morristown, NJ from 1999-2001. He served faithfully and made lifelong friendships.
Joshua loved karate and began his study of karate in his teens and could often be found practicing. After his mission, he had the opportunity to travel to China and studied the art of Kenpo with the Shaolin monks and earned his first black belt while he was there. Later, Joshua continued to refine the art of Kenpo and earned his second-degree black belt.
Joshua met his eternal companion, Lindsay Oram, in March 2005 and after a swift romance, they married just 5 months later in the Bountiful Temple on August 19, 2005. They had a wonderful relationship and enjoyed 18 years on marriage. They had three beautiful children, Porter, Bryson and Faerynn. Joshua was a devoted and loving father. His children and his wife were the most important thing in his whole world. Joshua and his family lived in
Taylorsville, Utah, just half a mile from where he taught school at Bennion Jr. High.
Joshua devoted his life to learning. He filled his mind with knowledge. Joshua completed his student teaching at Bennion Jr High and he loved it so much that he never left. Joshua was the head of the science department and loved science, especially chemistry. He continued his education until he received a master's degree.
He was a spiritual giant and a master of church doctrine. One of his favorite church callings was teaching gospel doctrine, especially when he taught the Old Testament.
Joshua was blessed with so many gifts. He was so kind and gentle. He never judged anyone and was always a peacemaker. He was humble and devoted to his family. Joshua and his wife had the special opportunity to go on a cruise to Alaska, a place neither of them had ever been. They returned home on Monday June 19th, and he passed away that night in his sleep while watching a Kung Fu movie. We will miss him so much and we are so grateful to have had him in our lives. Lindsay will always miss, love, and cherish her Pookie.
The family would like to express deep thanks and gratitude to all those who have contacted them, donated funds and expressed condolences.
Joshua is survived by his wife, Lindsay (Oram) Ramsey, sons Porter (15) and Bryson (14), and daughter Faerynn (10); parents Craig and Teri (Midgley) Ramsey; brother Jacob (Stephanie) Ramsey, sister Rebecca (James) Ehlers; parents-in-law Danny and Coral (Crittenden) Oram; sister's-in-law Alison Merrill and Mindi (TJ) Poelwijk; nieces and nephews Karson Gamboa, Aubree Gamboa, Emma Miller, Gideon Ramsey, Liam Ramsey, Meredith Ramsey, Cami Poelwijk, and Sealey Ehlers.
