Joshua Rene Vela

Joshua Rene Vela, age 28, passed away February 4, 2025. He was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 5, 1996 to Rene and Hilda Vela. He graduated from Ray High School in 2015.
Joshua was employed by A Auto Tech where he enjoyed his profession as a dedicated mechanic. He will always be remembered by his laughter and his ability to make others laugh and be in a good mood, his dedication to mechanics, and helping others- regardless if he knew you or not. He loved fishing, kayaking and working on cars. In his younger years, Joshua enjoyed being a boy scout. He would literally give his shirt off his back for anyone that was in need. Everybody knew him as "Crazy Josh" in high school. He was known as a legend and one of the sweetest, yet wildest, funny people. Most students always looked forward to the wild yet funny shenanigans he had up his sleeve. Joshua always put his family and friends first.
Joshua is preceded in death by his grandparents Manuel and Juanita Vela, grandfather William Flores, and sister Eloisa G. Vela. He is survived by his parents Rene and Hilda Vela, grandmother Concepcion Flores, siblings Rene (Juby) Vela Jr., Manuel (Linda) Vela, and Lydia (Brandie) Vela, aunts Minerva Bruce, Maria Lisa (Richard) Reyes, Finessa Vega, Judith Flores, and Bernadette Flores, niece Sylvia-Ann Renee Vela, cousins Finessa Flores and Bianka Vega, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and customers.
A public visitation will be held from 5-9 PM on Wednesday, February 12 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM that same day. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 13 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Rene Vela Jr., Manuel Vela, Eliseo Carillo, Carlos Carillo, Brandon Aleman, and Brooks Hooper.
